Just my various thoughts on my main areas of interest: mind, brain functions, consciousness, technology, travel, food, hamburgers, wine, champagne, high-end hotels, frequent flyer programs, credit card programs, cheap philosophy (the kind that you would not spend money to read) etc... It's all written in English by a French culture shifter living in France. This blog also features hamburger photography, food porn & absurdity. It may be offensive to intellectuals & aesthetes.

The Best Burger in Newquay, UK
As I was on a trip to Newquay (UK), I thought I'd take advantage of this visit to sample some British burgers. I had done my research before my trip and it seemed that Bank Street Bar & Grill was the place to go for the best burger in town.
Well, let me tell you, I wasn't disappointed at all. I ordered a Bank Street Bad Boy Burger and Boy (no pun intended), I loved it! I usually don't like any burger interpretation that strays away from a classic burger but this time, I was impressed. My chili sauce and the combination with excellent meat, tasty bun and cheese was just delightful.

One Failed Burger Attempt in Hawaii
On my recent trip to Hawaii, one of the most important things that I wanted to achieve was to eat at the Hukilau Cafe, a now world-famous Burger Joint thanks to the even more popular Man V. Food TV show. In addition, I thought I would get the Man V. Food Foursquare badge as I had read that checking in at a place featured in the show was the only condition to get the badge!
Well, after driving two hours to the north of Oahu island to reach the rather deserted city of Laie, I ended up in front of the Hukilau Cafe, only to realize that it was closed on Mondays. Gone my hopes to try their amazing burgers and to get this badge! On top of it, I ended up going to the two other places featured in the show: Helena's Hawaiian Food & MAC 24-7 at the Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio but I never got the badge!
What can I say? Foursquare & Man V. Food let me down on this one! But I will be back!
Hasta La Vista Baby!

Sunday Burger Doppelganger
I am proud to say that in tonight's burger challenge, man (modestly embodied by myself) was victorious!
I did enjoy eating these two burgers.
You gotta love and behold the bacon on the left side which looks like it is defying gravity by litterally floating over the burger. That beautifully fried piece of bacon looks like it is about to embark on a journey to the unknown and in the process defying the very laws of physics that made it a reality.
Yummy !

The Quest For The Perfect Hamburger
My wife and I have recently embarked on a bold journey: the quest for the perfect hamburger.
I feel like a modern times knight wearing a melted-cheese armor, armed with a frying pan riding along a carriage full of hamburger patties. The amount of possible hamburger combinations is just astonishing to me, maybe even more so than the amount of galaxies in the universe or neural connections in the brain. Just try to envision the different types of cheese, temperatures, hamburger patty recipes, types of bun, special sauces, lettuce, tomatoes, onion etc...
The number of combinations is just infinite!
In a way, the quest for the perfect hamburger is akin to the quest for the perfect Dry Martini. I will therefore try and document my advances and discoveries on my blog!
Today's pictures are just the outcome of our attempt at replicating a Juicy Lucy (a Minneapolis specialty)! The beauty of this variation is to actually stuff cheese between 2 hamburger patties, merge them into one prior to frying it.
It was delicious !
